Chatham Central High Schools mourns the loss of Massiah Smith, a Virtual Academy/CCHS student who was killed in a car accident today on her way home from school. Massiah was a beautiful person inside and out. She joined the CCHS campus this semester as a hybrid student and will be greatly missed. Please keep Massiah’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
Graduation Stoles
To celebrate and support the diversity of students in our district, Chatham County Schools would like to provide our graduating seniors in the Class of 2024 with an opportunity to order a Graduation Stole (examples here) that represents their nation of origin.
The district will provide stoles at no cost to all students who submit the form by the deadline of March 29, 2024.
Please use this form to select the stole that represents your nation of origin by March 29, 2024. If we are unable to secure the stole that you requested, you will be notified by your school.

Principal’s Message
Hello and welcome to Chatham Central High School, where we focus on providing students with the keys to their chosen path! I am Ms. Mary Margaret Dark, Interim Principal of our school. You can come to me to share your child’s interests so we can partner together to prepare them for life after high school.
We were the first Virtual Academy in our district even before the pandemic and we are one of the first rural high schools in the country to earn the distinction of becoming an AVID National Demonstration School. AVID is a system of learning for College and Career Readiness. Our seniors traditionally earn over 7 million dollars in scholarship money each year and our CTE programs prepare our students for careers and post-secondary education in their chosen fields.
Located in Bear Creek, the heart of North Carolina, we pride ourselves in our small family atmosphere supported by a community that is equally dedicated to the success of our students. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions as we partner together with your student to prepare for their future!
WE ARE CENTRAL: To learning, To living, To success!
Sincerely,
Ms. Mary Margaret Dark, Principal
